What is the Arcadia Water Company's involvement with citrus?

Arcadia Water Co.'s primary objective is the perpetuation of citrus growth in the Arcadia neighborhood. This is accomplished via irrigation, gleaning or picking, and encouraging replanting through a subsidy program. Our neighborhood is defined by the mature citrus that AWC has nurtured for so many years. Many of the older trees have aged to the point where they need to be replaced. We encourage Arcadia members to take advantage of the citrus rebate program; continuing with the "citrus" tradition lends to the beauty of your home, the neightborhood, and it is eco-friendly. Participation in the Company's flood irrigation is cost effective and the deep watering that your citrus receive is vital to the growth and maintenance of healthy trees.

I understand that AWC sponsors a citrus rebate program. What are the general details?

The citrus rebate program was designed to stimulate citrus replacement in the Arcadia neighborhood. The program started in 2003, and the annual rebate was $100.00. In 2004 the program was renewed and the rebate was increased to $200.00 per annum for every Arcadia household. Doubling the rebate has increased owner participation in the program and it allowed for the purchase of more established trees. The Board voted to continue this program in 2009 and will revisit the situation at budge time for 2010. After research in the metropolitan area we determined that Greenfield's Nursery in Northeast Mesa offered the largest trees at the best prices.

Will the newsletter mailings, billing notices, and "paper-based" scheduling process remain in effect?

Arcadia owners are diverse. We have the very computer literate and those who would be lost if we were to forgo hard-copy news letters and billing notices. Currently we are researching ways to provide for e-billing, but have encounted some "system errors". There are a number of owners who would prefer to go paperless and it is our intention to launch this program for those interested in 2010. There has been some discussion with regard to a change in our apporach to scheduling. To date, nothing presented competes well with the way it is currently being done. Exploration of "new ways" to schedule continues and we will update the membership when we have a more concrete alternative.
